Work:

  • Director of Department of Pharmacy Services at different hospitals in New York. Washington DC and Maryland

  • Associate Clinical Professor at SUNY Buffalo, Howard University and University of Maryland,

  • Has published and presented more than 80 Clinical Research papers in professional journals and scientific meetings of Pharmacy, Medical and Psychiatry organizations.

  • Has cowritten a chapter on glucose metabolism in a text book for medical students

 

Community Activities:

Very active in community organizations at local, national and international level for the last forty years. Advocated strongly for democratic movement in the US Congress during the King’s takeover in Nepal in 2003-2007

  • Founding Member and Past President of Association of Nepalis in America (National organization Nepali Americans in in US)

  • Founding Vice President of Non-Resident Nepali Association (Global organization of more than 7 million Nepalis living outside Nepal and chapters in 83 countries)

  • Founding President of Nepali American Public Affairs Council

  • Founding President of Academy of Nepali Language and Cultures

  • Immediate Past Chair, Board of Trustees, International Nepali Literary Society (chapters in 53 countries)

  • Founder Life Member of the Hindu Temple of Rochester

  • Founding Chair of the Pashupati Buddha Mandir in Maryland

  • Founding Super Patron, Hindu Buddha Mandir, Baltimore, Maryland

  • Founding Executive President of Milijuli Bhajan and Satsang Parivar

  • Founder, Saathi of Rochester (organization for support of South Asian victims of domestic violence)

  1. New York Council of Hospital Pharmacists, Roerig Pharmacy Award for excellence in research in the area of Drug Use in Long Term Care Facilities 1993.

  2. American College of Clinical Pharmacy, Elected to Fellowship 2000.

  3. American Geriatrics Society, Presidential Poster Award 2002.

  4. School of Pharmacy, SUNY at Buffalo. Model Preceptor of the Year Award 2003.

  5. Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce & Industries (FNCCI), Recognition Award for professional achievement and sustained service to Nepali and Nepali communities in North America presented by His Majesty the King Gyanendra Bir Bickram Shah Dev, Kathmandu, Nepal, October 2003.

Public Service

  • Appointed to the Maryland Governor’s Commission on South Asian American Affairs, 2014-2022.

  • Member, Leadership Council, Maryland State Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI)Caucus of Democratic Party 2019.

  • Chair, Baltimore County AAPI caucus.

  • Active supporter of Delegate Bhandari in 2014 and 2018 elections

  • Have been invited to speak at many meetings of different organizations

  • Active in Suicide Prevention programs

  • Runs Nepali language classes for children (since 2013)  

  • Volunteers more than 250 hours a year for community projects

  • Donated more than $100,000 to Nepali American charitable projects

  • Has established nursing scholarships, and literary awards

  • Hosted leaders of Nepali Congress in US during their exile (two of them went on to become Prime Minister and President of the Nepali Congress)

  • Has mentored many young students in their careers

Sports:

  • Captained Kopundol Sporting Club Soccer and Cricket teams ; 1958-62

  • Member of Boys Union Cricket team  (won championship in 1974); 1969-75

  • First Nepali American to run and complete marathon in the US : Chicago 2000

  • First Nepali American to run and complete Toronto marathon (1999)

  • Member, Gorkhe Tennis team
