Sanjeev Joshipura

Director

Indians for Biden

Sanjeev is the Director of Indians for Biden. A naturalized American citizen, Sanjeev was born and raised in India and migrated to North America in 2000. In the corporate realm, Sanjeev has worked at Fortune 500 multinational organizations in different industries, in the areas of strategy, finance and project management.

Since 2008, he has been actively engaged in public policy, American politics and global government relations. He has managed a US Senate election campaign, worked as a staff member on Capitol Hill advising congressmen and senators on economics and international affairs, and been the Executive Director of an international financial services industry association. He currently serves as the Executive Director of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that connects the Indian diaspora community globally.

Sanjeev has a Bachelors in Computer Engineering from Pune University, India, an MBA from the University of Toronto, Canada, and a Certificate in Financial Risk Management from the Illinois Institute of Technology, USA. A passionate cricket fan, he is involved in cricket administration as a member of Cricket Ireland’s Commercial Advisory Group. He lives in the suburbs of Washington, DC with his wife and twin children.

ANJALI MEHROTRA

Indians for Biden

Anjali Mehrotra is an immigrant, a naturalized American citizen. Born and raised in Calcutta, India, she came to New Jersey to pursue higher education and received a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Science from Stevens Institute of Technology in the field of Computer Science. Anjali also obtained a Certification in Digital Design from Parsons School of Design.

A politics and policy enthusiast, Anjali worked on campaigns for Democratic Women candidates for President, Congress and State Assembly before running for office herself in 2018. She is an elected Committee Member of the Union County (NJ) Democratic Committee, elected Municipal Chair for the Mountainside Democratic Committee and Union County Director for the South Asian American Caucus of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. Anjali earned her certification in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University and serves on the Union County Advisory Board on the Status of Minorities. 

Through her experiences, Anjali strongly identifies as a feminist. As the current President of the National Organization for Women of New Jersey and on the National Racial Justice Task Force for NOW, she is an advocate for women of all ethnic backgrounds across the socio-economic spectrum, pushing for legislation in support of women’s rights and opportunities.  

Mansi Patel serves as the Director of Communications for Indians for Biden. She comes to the position with a background in communications, policy, and public service. She currently manages communications for a membership-based nonprofit for the global Indian diaspora. Prior to that, she worked at a bipartisan government relations firm, where she served as a Legislative Assistant working on education, tech and natural resources issues. Prior to that, she served Congresswoman Frederica Wilson on Capitol Hill as part of her communications team. A former public school teacher from South Florida, she was born in Chicago and raised in Stuart, Florida, Mansi graduated with a B.A. from Northwestern University.

MANSI PATEL

Annie Hait is the Social Media Manager for the Indians for Biden National Council. Currently a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania, she is pursuing a Bachelor's in Arts with a major in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics, as well as minors in Arabic and Modern Middle Eastern Studies. Previously, she worked for State Representative Padma Kuppa's re-election campaign as a graphic design and social media intern. She is also an executive board member of her school's International Affairs Association and has a passion for politics.

Ishana Sahabir

Indians for Biden

Ishana Sahabir is on the Indians For Biden communications team, focusing on Instagram engagement. Born in New York City and raised in Upstate New York, she understands the need for outreach within the Indian community and is looking forward to informing fellow Indian-Americans on the impact of the next election.  Prior to Indians For Biden, she worked with Juanita Perez Williams for Mayor, specializing in voter outreach. 

Ishana recently graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & International Relations. While at Syracuse, she served as Secretary on the South Asian Students Association and was an active member of SU College Democrats. Ishana also spent a semester in Jaipur, India studying social change and sustainable development, where she worked with Aajeevika Bureau, an NGO advocating for migrant workers’ rights. She is currently preparing for law school while interning at the Schenectady County Public Defender’s Office.

 

Isha currently works at Google NYC as a Software Engineer. In 2019, she graduated from the University of Chicago with a major in Computer Science and a minor in South Asian Languages and Civilizations. She is passionate about promoting gender parity in tech and on campus, she led multiple organizations focused on remedying the gender gap.

 

Currently, she is very active in the New Jersey chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW), working on technology and comms efforts as the Communications Vice President. In addition to her role as Graphics Lead for Indians for Biden, she also works on the social media and web teams.

Vishwa Padigepati

Policy Communications Writer

Indians for Biden

Vishwa Padigepati is the Policy Communications Writer for Indians for Biden National Council. She is a sophomore at Yale University where she is majoring in Cognitive Science and Political Science. She has lived in France and South India, where she was born, before moving to California at age eight. She has served as the Policy Coordinator for STAND USA, Aegis Trust an organization based in D.C dedicated to mass atrocity prevention and humane foreign policy and is currently on the Youth Advisory Board for Plan International USA. At Yale, she is on the board of the Yale Review of International Studies and Yale Undergraduate Human Rights Journal as a Managing Editor.

Shoba Viswanathan is a freelance writer and editor with a deep engagement with social justice issues.  Her academic background in intersectional feminist research and professional background as a senior program manager at a NGO, theory and implementation, brought her to hands-on political activism. This election cycle, Shoba is focusing  her efforts on South Asian voter mobilization and is a founding member of the Chitthi Brigade. She  is a first generation Indian-American who currently lives in a NYC suburb after having spent time in the West Coast and the Midwest.

Nidhi Kansal

Indians for Biden

Nidhi was born and raised in the Midwest. She is a Primary Care Physician/Obesity Consultant practicing at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, IL.  She spends most of her time in an outpatient clinic but also rotates on an academic service in the hospital.  Although she has no official political background/experience, the crossroads between politics and healthcare are evident now more than ever during this pandemic and she wanted to help the cause in any way possible. Social equality in healthcare continues to be a contentious issue politically and as a primary care physician Nidhi sees the negative outcomes of this current inequality and finds it to be the most challenging part of her career.

Raka is a 2020 graduate from Colgate University, where she majored in International Relations and the French language.  During her college years, she has interned at various nonprofit organizations, including the World Affairs Council in San Francisco and the International Commission of Jurists in Geneva, where she worked during her semester abroad. Raka was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area. She enjoys learning languages, exploring different cultures, and loves both visual and musical art.

VIJNATA TRIVEDI

Director of Voter Protection

Indians for Biden

Vijnata Trivedi is the Director of Voter Protection for the Indians for Biden National Council. With a background in comparative government and politics, she brings a global perspective along with in-depth local knowledge. Vijnata currently serves as a Regulatory Counsel for a government affairs and relations consulting firm based in the Washington, DC metro area. She previously held positions at a global legal consulting firm, where she worked on legal and compliance matters for clients in the healthcare industry and energy sector, and at a boutique international law firm, where she provided strategic guidance on international laws and regulations to global companies, investors, and entrepreneurs. Vijnata gained legislative experience interning at the Canadian Parliament for a French-speaking member. She has also worked on local, state, and national political campaigns in the U.S.

Vijnata is fluent in French, Spanish, Hindi, and Gujarati, and is proficient in Italian and Latin. She earned a B.A. in Political Science and French from Furman University and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.
